Health Insurance Costs Keep Rising. Wyoming Employers Have Options.

Health insurance for your employees now costs an average of $28,303 a year for a family plan and $9,804 for a single employee, according to KFF's October 2026 employer survey. If you run a business in Wyoming, you have felt that climb at every renewal.

What that means per month

Put another way, that is about $2,359 a month for one family on your plan, and about $817 a month for one single employee. A business with 10 families on its plan is looking at about $283,030 a year in premiums alone. Those are averages, and your quote will vary by group size, ages, and plan, but the direction is the same everywhere: up.

Why does it keep going up?

A few plain reasons. Medical care itself costs more every year, from hospital and facility charges to prescription drugs. People also use more care, and when a plan pays more claims, the next renewal reflects it. None of that is your fault, and most of it is outside your control, but the bill still lands on your desk.

For a small employer, that bill forces hard choices. Some businesses ask employees to carry more of the cost. Some trim benefits. Some wonder whether they can keep offering coverage at all. Benefits are also how you keep good people, so cutting them has a cost of its own, in turnover and in morale.

What can you actually do about it?

Start before your renewal, not after it. Look at what your current plan really covers and what it really costs, including what your employees pay out of pocket. Compare plan designs side by side instead of renewing the same plan by default. Think about what matters most to your team, whether that is keeping premiums down, keeping doctors in network, or keeping deductibles manageable. And get a second set of eyes on it before you sign.

Getting a quote is simple.

It starts with a conversation about your business: how many employees you have, what you offer now, and what is not working about it. From there we compare what is available and show you the options with real numbers, so you can decide with facts instead of guesses. There is no obligation, and no cost for the review.

That is what we do at Golden Meadowlark Insurance. We are based in Sheridan, and we work with Wyoming employers to find coverage that fits their business and their people. We have options, and we will walk through them with you plainly, with the costs laid out, so you are choosing instead of just renewing. No hard sell.

If your renewal went up again, or you are wondering whether there is a better fit out there, talk to us before your next renewal. A quote costs you nothing. Call us at 307-461-5555 for a free group benefits quote.
