Wyoming Is Losing Nearly Half Its Medicare Advantage Plans for 2027. Here's What To Do.

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan in Wyoming, you need to hear this: our state is losing 43% of its Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. We go from 14 plans down to 8. That is the steepest drop in the entire country.
It gets worse. While the national average Medicare Advantage premium is falling about 16%, here in Wyoming the average premium for the plans that remain is going UP by about $23 a month. We are the steepest increase in the nation, too.
UnitedHealthcare is leaving Wyoming's Medicare Advantage market entirely at the end of this year. If you got a letter saying your plan is not renewing, you are not alone, and this is not a mistake. Keep that letter. You will need it.

What this means for you: If your plan is going away, you have to pick something new for 2027, and the annual enrollment period runs through December 7. Your two main paths: pick another Advantage plan from the eight that remain, or go back to Original Medicare with a supplement plus drug plan. When your plan leaves the market, you get special rights to buy a supplement without health questions, November 1, 2026 through March 4, 2027.

Do not sit this one out. Pull out the Annual Notice of Change your plan sent this fall and actually read it. Check your doctors, your drugs, and the premium. If you want a second set of eyes, call the office at 307-461-5555. The deadline is December 7.
